Sophie Galibert is a French writer-director who has divided her career since 2018 between Paris and Los Angeles. Her first American feature film, CHERRY, won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022, before continuing its journey in international festivals. The movie was released in US theaters in April 2023 and on exclusivity on the streaming platform STARZ.
Recently, Sophie directed for the French TV shows, ICI TOUT COMMENCE (TF1), and UN SI GRAND SOLEIL (France TV). She wrote twice for the Cannes Film Festival's TalentsAdami, in 2016 for Belgian director Olivier Van Hoofstadt, and in 2015 for French director Marion Laine. Sophie took part in Campus talent programs at the Reykjavik Film Festival in 2017, and at the Berlin Film Festival in 2013.
Her short film CREVETTE has won numerous international awards for its colorful style and deeply human characters. Sophie is a graduate of the GOBELINS film school in Paris, and has taken part in multiple screenwriting residencies - including Groupe Ouest Development in Britanny, the European Conservatory of Writing (CEEA) in Paris, and John Truby and Corey Mandel's workshops.
Story after story, she explores her favorite subjects: femininity, desire, and the passage to adulthood, through imperfect characters, in a colorful and pop visual style.
